Last Move Out Day

Been busy for the last week with many different packers in the house.  We have a NTS (non-temporary storage) shipment, a HHG (household goods) shipment, and an UB (express shipment).  We had great packers; really nice people to talk with.  I have a good feeling most of our stuff will arrive undamaged at our new house...always a plus!

Good-bye HHG items!

Spent an entire day painting (have to paint all colored walls with primer), steam cleaning the carpets, scrubbing every nook and cranny, and more cleaning than I even like to do (which is really saying something!).  All paid off because the housing inspector said it was the cleanest house she has ever seen.  Yesterday we said good-bye to our DC house...sure will miss the view of the Potomac River and the monuments downtown.

For now, it's living out of two suitcases for the next two-three months.

Good-bye DC house!

Getting to the Island

12 Aug 2015:
Step 1 is getting us to the island!  There is a lot involved in getting the family ready for travel; we've completed all the required steps and have the mandatory paperwork on hand.  The most exciting news is getting 2 pet spots on the AMC flight...that's really hard to do (according to others).  We leave for the island in November.

The packers have started to pack and crate all of our items.  Some of it will be going to storage for our entire time we are on the island...the rest will be waiting for us once we get there.  Luckily for us, we know we won't be on island without our items.  I've got 2 months of training to go to after leaving DC and getting to the island.  This allows our household items to get there just about the time we are arriving.  And after living out of a hotel for 2 months...you can bet that we will be ready to have our household items again!
First day of packers!
